As we joyously anticipate the feasting and rejoicing on Resurrection Sunday, we would like to share the details for that festive day.
This feast (April 17th, immediately following worship) will be similar to a Fellowship Lunch, except in its extra-ordinary festivities, feasting, and fun! There will be a meal first, with spiral sliced hams provided by ASPC. We ask that you bring your family’s favorite sides, and a dessert(please bring side dish/dishes large enough to feed your family plus 5).
When you sign up, please let us know which side and which dessert you plan to bring, so that we may make labels ahead of time(for instance, “Salami Marshmallow Surprise”). If you aren’t sure what you are bringing, we will have some blank labels for your use that morning. [“Side dishes” include anything from salads, antipasto trays, devilled eggs, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, quiches, special breads/rolls, etc. “Desserts” include any kind of fruit trays, pies, cakes, cookies, trifles, etc. ]
Of course, there will be fun after the meal: games and activities, weather permitting, outside Please see the sign up for a way in which you or your older children can help her make this a fun time for all of our children! Things you should bring for the outdoor festivities:
- one dozen pre-filled eggs per child hunter(extras are welcome) (ages 12 and up will not be hunting eggs, but will be invited to help hide eggs)
- extra baskets you may have to lend a visitor or child without
- if you can, bubble donations for the bubble station
- camp chairs and/or quilts
- footballs or other balls, frisbees
- Decorated Easter egg for decorating contest–winner receives a prize!
Please take time to visit the sign up, and find a place where you may volunteer to help…HERE. Many of these opportunities are ideal for your older children or teenagers!
The church ovens will be occupied with heating the glazed hams, and therefore unavailable for heating any other food on Sunday morning. Please consider this limitation ahead of time, and bring your crockpot, Instant Pot, Hot Logic or other appliance to keep your food warm. The refrigerators and freezers will be available for items that need to be kept cold, but since there is limited capacity in those, feel free to bring your cooler bag or ice chest inside if needed and place it on the stage, against a wall (accessed through the door just off the kitchen).
If the Lord wills it and if the weather forecast holds true for Sunday, it should be a wonderful day to enjoy some activities out on the lawn. The grassy area of the parking lot will be roped off for the activities portion of the day. Please do not park in those partitioned areas; we have an agreement with Blue Bonnet bakery next door as well as street parking available if needed.
