Pastor Jeffery talks with Tyler Bauer about the history and philosophy of Christian education, and its intersection with important practical matters of parental discipline. Along the way, they touch on different paradigms for Christian education, the place of natural law and presuppositionalism, the Biblical background to “Classical” education, the conservation of our Christian heritage, different contexts for Christian education (homeschooling, co-ops, schools, and more), educational standards and aspirations, the importance of discipline as a backdrop to fruitful education, and many other topics.
Mr. Bauer is a professor at Texas Baptist College, teaches online at Palm Beach Atlantic University, and is completing a doctorate in philosophy at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has taught at the Oaks Tutorials for several years, and will soon be moving to his home state of Florida to take a position as Headmaster at Pietas Classical Christian School and Professor of Humanities (and probably also Chaplain) at Christ’s College, a new Classical Liberal Arts College.
